Privacy Policy

TeleRacer is a team tool for real-car motorsport: remote telemetry, parts inventory, event scheduling, shared-expense tracking, and race history. This policy explains what data the TeleRacer web app and mobile apps (collectively, "TeleRacer") collect, why, and what we do — and don't — do with it. It applies to all TeleRacer apps and to teleracer.net.

The short version

  • No ads. We don't run advertising and never will.
  • No third-party tracking. No analytics SDKs, no advertising trackers, no cross-site/cross-app tracking, no behavioral profiling.
  • We don't sell or rent your data. Ever.
  • We collect only what's needed to run the features you use, and we keep it for as long as your account and team data exist.

What we collect

  • Account information — your email address, a securely hashed password, an optional display name, and your language preference. If you choose to sign in with Discord, we store your Discord account identifier to link the login.
  • Content you create — the data you and your teammates enter: teams and memberships, cars, parts inventory, events and sessions, expenses and settlements, race results, and to-do lists.
  • Vehicle telemetry — when you pair a TeleRacer device with a car, it publishes telemetry such as GPS position, speed, and vehicle/CAN sensor readings, with timestamps. This data is associated with the device, car, and team it belongs to, and is visible to that team.
  • Technical data — a strictly functional, http-only session cookie to keep you signed in, plus standard server logs (e.g. IP address and request metadata) needed to operate and secure the service. We also collect aggregate, non-identifying operational metrics (counts and timings) to keep the service reliable.

Mobile apps

The TeleRacer mobile apps connect to the same account and team data as the web app and collect the same categories of information described above. If a mobile app asks for a device permission (for example, push notifications), it is used only for the feature you enabled, and you can review or revoke it at any time in your device's system settings.

How we use your data

We use it to provide the app's features — authenticating you, sharing data within your team, displaying telemetry, and sending transactional emails such as email verification and password resets. We do not use your data for advertising or to build profiles about you.

Cookies

We use only essential cookies required for the app to function, such as the session cookie that keeps you logged in and a cross-site-request-forgery token. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Service providers and third parties

We share data only with the limited providers needed to run TeleRacer:

  • Email delivery — Amazon Web Services (SES) sends transactional email (verification, password reset).
  • Discord — only if you choose to sign in with Discord, in which case authentication is handled by Discord under their policy.
  • Content delivery networks — some static assets (styles, fonts, charting libraries) are served from public CDNs, which may receive your IP address as part of serving those files. They are not used to track you.

TeleRacer is operated on infrastructure controlled by the TeleRacer team. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to anyone.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your data for as long as you maintain an account and your team's data exists. You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting us at the address below. Note that team content you contributed (for example, shared expenses or inventory records) may be retained by the team where removing it would break records other members rely on; tell us if you need it removed and we'll work with you.

Security

Traffic between your device and TeleRacer is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), passwords are stored only as salted hashes, and access to team data is scoped to that team's members. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.

Children

TeleRacer is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. We'll revise the "Last updated" date above, and significant changes will be communicated through the app or by email where appropriate.
